In 2013 I began assembling opinions on racism, homophobia, gun control, and healthcare for a video installation entitled “united.states”. These opinions were blended into five short films, featuring music by Casey Stratton, which were projected inside a triage tent at Calder Plaza for ArtPrize. The installation received the juried award for Best Use Of Urban Space.
Film Two Synopsis
For decades, homosexuals have struggled with hostility in regards to their civil rights. In the second film, we examine issues surrounding the governing of our nation through the lens of sexuality and religion. Should religious beliefs influence equality for all people? I asked a few hundred people this question, in this film you will hear a selection of those answers - all as varied and uncomfortable as the subject itself.
